Landscape Architecture Coaching/Mentoring
Nurturing the future
Since completing my degree in landscape design, I have taught garden design and landscape design for over thirty years. In recent years, university places to study landscape design, with a view to becoming a chartered landscape architect, have become inaccessible to many people. I was delighted when the Landscape Institute introduced apprenticeships which could lead to chartership. My passion is to continue teaching, coaching and encouraging apprentices and graduate landscape architects to become chartered. I have employed two of the first small cohort of Landscape Technician Apprentices with a view to helping them achieve their dreams of becoming chartered landscape architects.

Sharing my experiences
Soon after finishing my degree in Landscape Design, I got involved in teaching. This started by working with a local college to teach a ‘design your own garden’ course. I wanted to help communities develop gardens they enjoyed, rather than end up with impractical designer gardens. I taught the course in various evening centres for 13 years and hope to start doing this again soon. For some of my students, the course led to a City and Guilds Certificate of Garden Design.
I now have a Certificate in Education, and the teaching side of my business continues to grow. I’ve taught individuals how to design their own garden, and I have taught degree students at Reaseheath College (Cheshire) about landscape design, planting design, specification and hand drawing for landscape design.
As well as teaching landscape and garden design, I have a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL). This allows me to teach English as a second language, something I started whilst living in France for a number of years.

If you are interested in working together on a project, then the sooner you get us involved, the better. If we are involved from the start it is much simpler to design and organise spaces in a creative way that both look great and have a sound technical basis.
