Landscape strategies
Are a useful tool particularly for the pre-app stage. They give a quick overview of the types of planting and hard materials proposed.
Masterplans
Show the site in more details than Landscape Strategies, showing where and which hard materials and planting are proposed.
Discharging planning conditions
This is a process to ensure that the local authority accepts the detailed hard landscape and planting plans for a site.
Detailed hard landscape design drawings
Provide details of the siting of hard materials on the site and specifications and drawings for their installation.
Planting plans
Are detailed drawing showing which, and how many plants will go where on a site, and includes specifications for the planting and initial management.
Landscape specifications and schedules of work
Are often included on the above drawings but can be separate documents detailing the use of hard materials and plants.
Management and maintenance plans.
Management plans detail the initial work required to establish planting. Maintenance plans provide details of longer term maintenance required to ensure that planting remains as designed.
Project management
Is a vital part of a project and often excluded as a financial decision. However, a chartered landscape architect can add value to a scheme during the installation and beyond ensuring that plans and specifications are adhered to and that the client receives the landscape design installation they have paid for.
