A little bit about Hilary
I love to solve puzzles. Which is why I love projects where I have landscape or garden problems to solve. I see it as a great opportunity to find a truly creative solution.
Meet Hilary Newhall CMLI
My Story
I have worked in the landscape sector for 50 + years, including 30 + years as an award - winnning chartered landscape architect.
Here are just a few of the diverse projects I have worked on:
Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs) for large and small housing projects and solar farms.
Master plans for projects ranging from 2 high - end new build houses, to a 300 ha area with 1500 houses.
Detailed hard materials and planting designs to accompany planning applications and to discharge planning conditions.
My academic background: I have a landscape design honours degree; a postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture, and further study and experience to gain membership of the Landscape Institute.
From the ground up
I started out as an apprentice gardener over 50 years ago, and quickly developed a passion for plants and planting.
After a number of years running my own landscape construction and maintenance company, I wanted to learn more. So, I completed a Degree in Landscape Design, and then a Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture.
This led to me studying an Advanced Diploma in Environmental Project Management and becoming a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) in 1994.
Award-winning experience
Over my five decades (and counting!) working within the landscape sector, I have been lucky enough to work with some great clients on a large variety of projects. I’ve helped homeowners turn their outdoor space into something they can enjoy, right through to creating hard and soft landscape plans for large or contentious development sites.
A particular highlight for me was creating 26 individual planting plans for a 115-hectare prize-winning design by the eminent French landscape architect, Christine Dalnoky.
I am an award - winning Chartered Landscape Architect with over five decades of experience in the field, with more than three decades as a chartered landscape architect.
A particular highlight of mine more recently, was creating an award - winning terrace garden at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2024. Click here for more information.
